Art Contests for Kids
Do your kids love art? Did you know there are a number of art contests for kids online? Most are free to enter, and some give away really great prizes. My children have entered several online contests – and even won a few! The prizes they received included ribbons, certificates, and gift cards.
If you’re looking for some art contests for your children, here a few you might be interested in:
Teachers Against Prejudice Art Contest
This contest is for all elementary students in grades one through four, and the theme this year is “Living Together in Peace.” Students are encouraged to create a piece of artwork showing what that would look like to them. October 15, 2014 is the deadline!
Entrants will be divided into two groups based on age, with first place and second place prizes given out in each group. First place winners will receive $150 cash; second place winners will receive $100 cash.
Get to Know Your Wild Neighbors
This contest is open now and runs through November 1, 2014. Not only does it involve art, but writing, photography, music, and videography as well. Kids 19 and under can enter as many categories as they want. The goal of this contest is to get kids outside and inspired by nature.
There are lots of prizes for this contest too, including digital cameras, video cameras, art supplies, and magazine subscriptions.
Space Foundation Student Art Contest
This contest opens August 1, 2014. The theme for this next contest is “The View from My Spaceship.” Students are to interpret the theme however they like and create an original piece of artwork.
The Space Foundation gives out 25 awards. There are eight age categories from 3 to 18, and each category has a first, second, and third place winner. A special Space Foundation Achievement Award is also given out. Prizes include a certificate, a ribbon, a personalized autograph from an astronaut, and a prize.
